Argentine director Fernando Solanas dies of Corona

Argentine director, screenwriter and producer Fernando Solanas died, at the age of 84, in the French capital, Paris, a few days after he was infected with the Coronavirus.

According to the Buenos Aires Times website, Solanas, who was currently the Argentine ambassador to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), announced last month that he and his wife, Angela Correa, had contracted Covid-19, and they posted a picture of him in a hospital bed.

The Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Twitter: “Deep grief for Pino Solanas. He passed away while carrying out his duties as Ambassador of Argentina to UNESCO. He will be remembered for his art, political commitment and morals, always in the service of a better country.”

Solanas was born on February 16, 1936, and studied theater, music and law, and since 2013 he has been a member of the Argentine Senate.
