Cristián Mohaded’s Open Mount project at the London Biennale
The meeting place for Cristián and Lorenzo is on the border between craftsmanship and design, from where together they build their own way of doing from the dialogue of their knowledge.
–
Dialogue emerges as a technology committed to the search for a vision, a language, a common world. Thus, design is “a situated activity that configures values, ways of relating, identities and territories (…) Entering the Mount is not an invitation to the landscape, but rather to an epistemic orientation. a willingness to do otherwise; a vision in which the material and the immaterial are mutually constituted ”, they explain.
The project of Cristián Mohaded (design and Artistic direction) and Lorenzo Reyes (craftsman) was selected by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Argentine Foreign Ministry and received the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, International Trade and Worship and the Embassy of Argentina in the United Kingdom.

The Symbol: food, material and technology
The Simbol plant It is food for cows, horses, and donkeys that come to Mt. in summer. In winter, the cool wind dries the tender and bright green of the fibers into shades of sand yellow.
And depending on the minerals in the soil, red and orange spots may appear on the fibers.
For Lorenzo Reyes these changes confirm that nature sets the pace of his practice. “Mother nature offers us everything, we just have to go to the field and work with our hands”, assures.
“The Symbol, both as a material and as a technique, thus becomes a technology-memory that stores and transfers a know-how and a language of the Mount”.
