Organizers said over 20,000 people attended music and dance performances during the competition, with a final showdown on stage in front of the historic Buenos Aires Obelisk in the heart of the Argentine capital.
In the stage dance category, which included spectacular acrobatics, Costanza Vito and her partner Riccardo Estrada from Bergameno beat another 19 duets to win the title.
Forty couples competed for the title in either the traditional category or the “Salon Dance” category, performing the Buenos Aires native tango, and was crowned in this category by Cipolite’s Cynthia Palacios and Sebastian Bolivar.
The world championships, which took place from 6 to 18 September, were attended by 560 duets from 30 countries, including the United States, France, Russia, Japan and the Philippines.
