Montevideo, October 3 (Notistarz).- Argentine cinema, with three productions, was the most represented in Latin America in a list dominated by Spanish and European productions in the recent San Sebastián Festival in its 72nd editionLatamCinema highlighted.
In the Horizontes Latinos section, the Horizontes Award went to the new film by Argentinian Luis Ortega, “El jockey”, a co-production between Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Denmark and the United States.
In the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section, the also Argentine “Collective Monologue” by Jessica Sarah Rinlad received a special mention. Likewise, Lola Arias’ latest film, “Reas” (Argentina/Germany/Switzerland), received the Sebastiane Prize presented by the Basque association Gehitu for the best LGTBI film of the contest.
The Cuban-Dominican work “The Reign of Antoine” by José Luis Jiménez Gómez (Cuban International Film and Television School) received the Nest The Mediapro Studio Award in the film school shorts section.
“Sujo” by Mexicans Astrid Rondero and Fernanda Valadez (Mexico/United States/France) received the Spanish Cooperation Award.
The main awards remained in Spain: the Golden Shell went to “Tardes de Solitude” by Albert Serra, while the Silver Shell for best direction was awarded ex aequo to two newcomers: Laura Carreira and Pedro Martín Calero, for their respective works in “On Falling” (United Kingdom/Portugal) and “El llanto” (Spain/Argentina/France).
The Silver Shell for best lead performance went to Patricia López Arnaiz for her work in “Los flashes,” Pilar Palomero’s third feature film.
