Argentina won the Copa America by beating Brazil in the final

Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 in the final of Copa America, the continental tournament of South American football. The goal that decided the match, played in the night at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro, was scored by Angel Di Maria in the twenty-second of the first half. Argentina had not won the tournament since 1993 and have now joined Uruguay as the most successful national team in South America, with fifteen titles. For Lionel Messi, captain and top scorer with four goals, it is the first career title with Argentina. Messi was also voted best player of the tournament.
