The delegation of Argentina displaced to the COP29 withdrew today from the UN climate summit in Baku by order of the president of the country, Javier MileyPresidency sources confirmed to EFE.
The decision to withdraw from the Baku summit, advanced by the magazine Climateoccurs after the Argentine delegation had participated in the first days of the forum.
The abandonment does not imply that Argentina withdraws from the Paris Agreement to stop climate warming.
Milei spoke yesterday, Tuesday, for the first time with Donald Trump since his electoral victory in USA and in the prelude to the South American president’s trip to Florida (USA) to meet with the Republican leader, who described the Argentine as his “favorite president.”
The telephone communication between both leaders occurred hours after the Argentine Government reported that Milei will not attend the Ibero-American Summit to be held this week in the Ecuadorian city of Cuenca.
The reason is that the forum overlaps with Milei’s planned trip to Florida to participate in the Conference of Conservative Political Action (CPACin English), which will take place between Thursday and Saturday at Mar-a-Lago, where he will meet with Trump. EFE (I)
