Argentina wins Copa América 28 years later – Copa América

Di María scored the goal that defeated Brazil in the final of the competition. Otamendi and Everton were holders

Argentina won the Copa América in the early hours of this Sunday by beating Brazil, in the final of the competition, by 1-0, a match that took place at the Maracanã stadium, in Rio de Janeiro.

Angel Di María, Paris Saint-Germain winger, scored the only goal of the match in the 22nd minute, which featured Benfica’s Nicolás Otamendi and Everton at the start. Marchesín, FC Porto goalkeeper, did not leave the bench. This is a title that escaped from ‘Albiceleste’ 28 years ago – the last achievement was in 1993. It is the 15th Copa America that Argentina has won in its history, nine of them away from home.

Note also that this is Lionel Messi’s first trophy for Argentina. The suitcase is broken.
