Argentina will give humanitarian visa to Ukrainian migrants – War in Europe

The National Directorate of Migration (DNM) issued a provision that authorizes the entry and stay in Argentina for humanitarian reasons of Ukrainian citizens and their direct relatives, regardless of their nationality, as a response to the crisis caused by the armed conflict that is going through That country.

The measure adopted by the body, dependent on the Ministry of the Interior, is part of the human rights protection policies carried out by the country and aims to facilitate and guarantee the family reunification of these people.

The provision of the DNM, in charge of Florencia Carignano, grants temporary protection status to guarantee the entry and permanence in the country of Ukrainians and direct relatives, with a period of permanence of up to three years in Argentina.

In this sense, it was reported that, once this term has expired, the beneficiaries can request and access definitive residence in the country.

This visa is part of the Migration Law 25,871, and specifically in its article 23 subsection M, which considers temporary residents for humanitarian reasons to all those who enter invoking “reasons that justify special treatment in the opinion of the National Directorate of Migration”.

From the DNM they highlighted that the purpose of the measure is to provide protection to those people who, not being refugees or asylum seekers, are momentarily unable to stay or return to their country, while the beneficiaries will be exempt from paying migration fees in response to the crisis. running through Ukraine.
