Argentina was not invited to participate in the BRICS summit, which will be held in Kazan on October 22-24. However, according to the ambassador of the Republic to Moscow, Enrique Ignacio Ferrer Vieira, Buenos Aires will study the invitation if it receives it. So far the country does not see any need to join the group.

“Let’s start with the fact that we were not invited to the summit. If we receive such an invitation, we will study it and a decision will be made,” Vieira said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The ambassador said that the country also “does not see added value” for itself if it joins BRICS, given the good relations that already exist with the members of the group: China, Brazil, India and South Africa, especially in the trade and economic field. At the moment, Argentina’s priority is to join the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

It was previously reported that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will attend the BRICS summit. Representatives of the PRC and Armenia also agreed to participate in the event. Thus, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan officially confirmed his presence at the summit, reports 360.ru.
