News Now | Buenos Aires – Argentina (Reuters)
Hundreds of police officers demonstrated in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires, calling for higher salaries, better working conditions, and more protection against the emerging coronavirus.
Police officers, dressed in their military uniform, took to the streets of Buenos Aires and demanded a 56% wage increase while waving Argentine flags.
Police protests began on Monday in several municipalities in the province of Buenos Aires and continued through Tuesday, despite local government promises that it will take into account the salary increase.
According to protesters, inflation in the country’s ailing economy is eroding police wages.
Argentina plunged into an economic crisis in 2018, which was exacerbated in 2020 by the Coronavirus pandemic.
