Argentina stars look forward to Sergio Aguero

Sergio Agüero (33) will travel to Qatar after retiring with the Argentine national team. His role has not yet been fully clarified, but the team is looking forward to the ex-superstar.

Kun Aguero is taking part in the 2022 World Cup as a team member of the Argentina national team. That is already known. Association boss and ex-superstar have agreed on it after personal talks.

“Sergio’s message is of course very well received here,” said national coach Lionel Scaloni on the sidelines of the final qualifiers against Venezuela (3-0) and Ecuador. “I’ve already spoken to him and the President.”

The squad around Lionel Messi and Co. is looking forward to Agüero – but it is still unclear which position Agüero will take. Scaloni: “It’s very important that his role is clearly defined. We don’t want him to come here to do anything.”

According to reports, a position in the coaching staff for Agüero – for example as a special trainer for the offensive players – is just as possible as that of the team manager.

Agüero originally wanted to take part in the 2022 World Cup as a player. It would have been his 4th World Championship. Due to heart rhythm problems, Manchester City’s record goalscorer had to end his career a few months after moving to FC Barcelona.
