Argentina Replaces Indonesia as Host for U-20 World Cup: Local Politician Mocks Indonesia

Jakarta

Argentina replace Indonesia to be the host U-20 World Cup. Local politician, Carlos Maslaton mocks Indonesia with scathing sentences.

Argentina to host U-20 World Cup on May 20 to June 11. This event was originally held in Indonesia.

What power, FIFA crossed out Indonesia from host status. Allegedly, there were protests from government officials who rejected the arrival of the Israeli national team.

It is known that Indonesia does not even have diplomatic relations with Israel. Indonesia also supports Palestine which is still in conflict with Israel.

Furthermore, Argentina, which is the host, is entitled to a ticket to appear on U-20 World Cup (previously failed to qualify from the qualifying phase). Indonesia had to bite its fingers not to participate in the event.

Rejection issue Israel by Indonesia seems to have also become a concern in Argentina. Local politician, Carlos Maslaton gave a scathing sentence!

“I am happy that the U-20 World Cup is taking place here. This is a product of stupidity from Indonesia,” he told prawn.

Carlos Maslaton is known to have good relations with the Jewish community in Argentina. He often visited Israel every year.

Maslaton was a member of the Buenos Aires City Council in 1987. Now, he often becomes a speaker at various events, especially political matters.

Maslaton hopes that Argentina can advance to the highest level in the U-20 World Cup. Team Tango’s prestige is also high after winning the 2022 World Cup.

“Anyone can play in Argentina, including Israel,” he said.

“Argentina has a chance and must take advantage of every momentum in this U-20 World Cup,” he continued.

Even so, the U-20 Israel National Team has received ‘intimidation’ by opposing supporters. In the first match against Colombia, Colombian fans unfurled the Palestinian flag in large numbers.
