Argentina plans energy integration with Brazil

Argentine authorities maintain plans to increase the energy integration agenda with Brazil, mainly focused on the supply of natural gas.

At a recent meeting between Argentina’s Secretary of Energy, Darío Martínez, and the country’s ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Scioli, the government proposed inviting gas companies from Argentina to analyze the possibility of supplying natural gas to the southern states of the neighboring country, such as they are Santa Catarina, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul.

Part of these advances is the completion of the Uruguayana – Porto Alegre gas pipeline. The infrastructure could help increase Argentine gas exports to Brazil by 10-20 million cubic meters a day.

For now, Argentina is preparing technical teams and making proposals viable, to later request meetings with the Brazilian energy minister, Bento Albuquerque.
