Sabella’s first training experience as a coach was with the Argentine Estudiantes team, which he led between 2009 and 2011, and he had a brief experience with the UAE Al Jazira team in 2011, before moving to coach the Argentine national team that he led between 2011 and 2014.

In addition to qualifying with the Tango dancers to the final of the 2014 World Cup, the late coach won the Copa Libertadores title in the 2008/2009 season with Estudiantes.
