Emiliano Martinez’s controversial celebrations in the days following the World Cup have sparked controversy in many corners of football. Former French international Adil Rami has lost his skin and has to endure a counterattack from Martinez’s teammates.

“Martinez is the biggest shit in football and the most hated man,” Adil Rami said in an Instagram post. The reason for this was the provocative gestures that the goalkeeper of the Argentine national team Emiliano Martinez presented to the world audience in abundance after winning the World Cup against France.
However, Rami probably didn’t count on the strong cohesion within the Argentina national team. A short time later, three Albiceleste players, Angel Di Maria, Leandro Paredes and German Pezzella, virtually protected their teammates.
“El Dibu is the best goalkeeper in the world, cry somewhere else,” said Di Maria. Paredes, with whom he shares Juventus, writes: “Now tell us without crying, Rami”. And Pezzella also comments on the dispute between Wout Weghorst and Lionel Messi.
Rami won the World Cup himself with France in 2018 and obviously would have liked to see his compatriots defend the trophy. Martinez, meanwhile, was awarded the Golden Glove as best goalkeeper at the 2022 World Cup.
