Argentina Gallery Introduces South American Textile Art Triumphantly in New York | Direct View

Praxis is the gallery that gathers, exhibits, and attracts Latino artists, to the epicenter of culture and art. From Argentina to the United States, Praxis arrived in New York in 1987 with the aim of giving Latino art worldwide visibility.

Since then it has become one of the main platforms for Latino artists seeking to exhibit their work around the world. 35 years later, the gallery is recognized for its commitment to promoting Latino culture through art and its support of emerging and established artists.

The next exhibition presents the work of the Chilean textile artist Josefina Concha E. (Santiago de Chile, 1982).

Being a master in textile art, Josefina rescues centuries of Latin American heritage through a communion with crafts and nature. Her work stands out for her ability to fuse elements of Chilean culture with traditional and contemporary weaving techniques.

On this occasion Josefina will present Skin Buffet, located around a dining table, the work is a meeting, a textile encounter, with special guests; sewn fabrics, small drawings and paintings each inspired by strange objects, members of the artist’s family or the work of other artists.

The inauguration of the exhibition will take place on April 13 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (EST) at the Gallery located at 501 West 20th Street in the Chelsea neighborhood, New York and in May 2024, at Praxis Buenos Aires, in its iconic space at Arenales 1311, CABA.

This new proposal by Praxis is a unique opportunity to see the fascinating sculptural textiles by Josefina Concha E., who returns to the New York scene after a decade, and after the overwhelming success at Zona Maco, the most important art fair in Mexico. The exhibition will be a preview of the individual show that the artist will hold at Praxis Buenos Aires, next year.

Skin Buffet is yet another example of Praxis’ commitment to promoting Latino culture and its support for Latino artists.
