Argentina Expands Beef Export Opportunities with New Offal Agreement in China

Beyond the drop in prices that impacts the generation of foreign currency and the interest of the businessChina continues to be the most important market for the Argentine cold chain: it represents more than 70% of the exported volumes of beef.

For this reason, the new protocol signed with the Asian giant and which will allow the addition of shipments of offalgenerates expectations in the sector.

It will be one of the topics that will be addressed in depth starting this Sunday, the 5th, and until next November 10, in the 6th edition of the gigantic China International Import Expo (CIIE) fair in Shanghai, where the Institute for the Promotion of Argentine Beef (IPCVA) will participate together with 19 exporting companies.

OFFSETS, THE BUSINESS THAT WANTS TO GROW

All this will happen after Argentina’s participation in the Anuga International Fairwhere the country’s main beef exporters presented in Germany the benefits of Argentine meat and sought to seal new commercial alliances.

Now, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries recently announced the agreement with China so that part of the offal resulting from the slaughter can enter that countryand the CEO of Gorina meat processing plant and vice president of the Consortium of Argentine Meat Exporters ABC, Carlos Riusech, explained the real scope of the agreement.

Specifically, it enables the possibility of marketing products such as:

Heart Lung Tail Diaphragms Arteries Tracheas Tail Body fat Tongue Liver Kidneys Penis Testicles

“I think that We must highlight the great work of both Senasa and the Ministry of Agriculture. In the case of the language, due to issues that are linked to foot-and-mouth disease and vaccination and with the whole health issue, a special treatment was approved,” said Riusech in dialogue with La Red Rural (AM 910).

Is about a process that will require cooking the tongue for 30 minutesalready 70°.

In the case of liver, kidney, penis and testicle The approval was made only for “fields declared brucellosis-free by SENASA.”

Meanwhile, he said that the great challenge that Argentina now has, like Uruguay, is in relation to the byproducts that are extracted from the stomach. It is tripe, the booklet or the rennet, which have to do with the digestive tract of the cow. Those products have not yet been approved and the industry hopes they will have the green light by next year.

SHIPMENT TEMPERATURE

Another point that the businessman highlighted has to do with the conservation conditions when boarding and securing the cargo for such extensive trips. Temperature plays a central role.

China, by some old translationsit was a little different from the rest of the world,” he said.

Until now, that country claimed no more than 4° temperatures for products upon arrival at their destination, when the European market and the rest of the world usually work with 7°.

“And we are also authorized to export bone with meat, so some bones were undoubtedly left outside, such as the femur or the leg bone or the hip bone. Now they will also be enabled and they all add value in the treatment of the media res.”

ANOTHER TOUR THROUGH CHINA

In this context, as mentioned, in the next few hours the Argentine businessmen grouped in the IPCVA will begin a new mission to continue consolidating, deepening and expanding business with the Asian giant.

The Institute reported that, under the slogan “New era, shared future (“New era, shared future”), the Chinese government will renew the commitment to bring together all its country’s suppliers in the same facility.

China is the main buyer for us and therefore the CIIE, this food fair organized by the Chinese government, is of utmost importance,” Jorge Grimberg, President of the IPCVA, was sincere.

In this framework, he stated that a bet is the “meat promotion premiumsince China has a huge number of inhabitants with a lot of purchasing power who could demand high-value cuts at the same price or more than what they are paying in Europe”.

“Participation in the fair is very important, regardless of “the values that China is managing today, which are not those that Argentine exporters intend”he added.

As in Anuga and at every international food fair, The IPCVA set up its classic Argentine Beff Pavilion, of more than 600 square meters in the food and agriculture sector, with a 110-cover restaurantto taste the best Argentine meat, individual boxes for exporters and a meeting room.
