Argentina exceeds 69 million vaccines received against the coronavirus – Télam

With the arrival of two new shipments this Wednesday, Argentina exceeds 69 million vaccines received to combat the coronavirus, official sources reported.

The first of the shipments arrived with more than 160 thousand doses of Pfizer vaccines, while at night another was expected with more than 820 thousand doses of AstraZeneca.

A new batch of 160,290 vaccines from the Pfizer laboratory arrived at the Ezeiza International Airport at 3:22 p.m. on American Airlines flight AA991, with which the country already reached 68,366,325 doses received since the start of the Strategic Plan for immunization against COVID-19.

The shipment, which completes the total of 580,000 Pfizer units announced for September, was received at the airport by the Secretary of Quality in Health of the Ministry of Health of the Nation, Arnaldo Medina.

Vaccines from this lab will continue to arrive during the next three months until the 20 million units planned by contract are completed by 2021, and will make it possible to scale strongly this year the vaccination coverage against SARS-CoV-2 in adolescents between 12 and 17 years of age in a universal way.

In addition, Argentina was waiting for another shipment with 822,100 doses of AstraZeneca for the night, transferred on Aeromxico flight AM30, with which vaccination schedules will continue to be completed, so that the country will have added a total of 982,390 new vaccines during the day.

Since the beginning of the campaign, Argentina has received 68,366,325 units. Of this total, 28,856,000 correspond to Sinopharm, 14,183,210 belong to Sputnik V (10,125,655 from component 1, and 4,057,555 from component 2), and 3,129,125 to Sputnik V produced in Argentina by the Richmond Laboratory ( 1,179,625 for the first component, and 1,949,500 for the second).

17,516,500 doses correspond to the AstraZeneca firm (580,000 Covishield; 1,944,000 received by the COVAX mechanism, 13,200,500 from AstraZeneca and Oxford whose active ingredient was produced in Argentina; 1,242,400 donated by Spain and 549,600 by Canada). Meanwhile, 3,500,000 correspond to doses of Moderna donated by the United States, 600,000 to CanSino and 581,490 to Pfizer.

According to the Public Vaccination Monitor, 56,337,504 doses were distributed throughout the territory as of this morning, while applications total 51,516,131. In turn, 29,585,448 people started their scheme and 21,930,683 completed it.

For its part, the Government of the province of Buenos Aires sent today 16,000 new shifts for the first dose of vaccines against the coronavirus for young people between 12 and 17 years old, without comorbidities, and 85,000 to complete schedules, informed the Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof .

“Shifts are being sent for vaccination,” the president announced this morning on his Twitter account.

From the government, it was detailed that it is 16,618 shifts for the first dose of adolescents between 12 and 17 years old without pre-existing diseases, and 85,632 shifts to complete schedules.

In addition, the authorities of the province of Buenos Aires recalled that all people from the age of 12 can register at https://vacunatepba.gba.gob.ar/ to receive the vaccine.

Meanwhile, as announced days ago by the Buenos Aires president, all those over 50 years of age already have the possibility of accessing the so-called “free vaccination” of the second dose if they completed 8 weeks after the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine or Sputnik, or about 3 weeks after the first dose of Sinopharm.
