“Argentina becomes major world beef supplier to China, with exports predicted to continue growing”

75% of Argentine beef exports currently go to China, that does not stop demanding protein as the eating habits of the population change, reported the Institute for the Promotion of Argentine Beef (IPCVA).

Fifteen years ago almost no Argentine exporter thought about the Orient, much less about the People’s Republic of China. The first steps in this market were in 2005 and, with a much greater presence, from 2009. In 2012 the sanitary opening of the market was achieved and, between 2013 and 2015, exports grew slowly but steadily.

In 2016, driven by the promotional actions of the IPCVA -which continue today- and a growing demand for the progress of the local economy, that the Chinese market does not stop growing.

In a very few years, Argentina became one of the main world suppliers of a market that allows all the important “players” in the sector to do good businessstood out from the IPCVA. Currently, Argentina exports to China boneless frozen meat, boneless refrigerated meat and frozen bone-in.

They predict that Argentine meat exports to China will continue to grow

In this frame, The Argentine export meat industry expressed its confidence in continuing to improve trade with Chinaafter participating again in the food fair Shit China 2023 in the last days.

China is the country that imports meat worldwide and this trend will continue,” said the vice president of the IPCVA, Daniel Urciafrom Shanghai, China, where a new edition of the SIAL agri-food fair was held, after consulting telam.

Urcia predicted that in the coming years Argentine meat exports to China “will continue to growincorporating animal protein into its diet, which was not incorporated like this 20 years ago, and in the case of beef, China has no chance of providing for itself”.

For his part, the head of the export consortium ABC, Mario Ravettinostressed that China is the country that “requires the most food, particularly bovine meat products” and that “undoubtedly in the future it will remain at the levels that we are exporting to it or perhaps more to the extent of the growth of its domestic product and the access of the Chinese population to mass consumption of food.”

In the same line, Hugo Borrelfrom the fridge ArreBeefaffirmed that “Argentine meat is well positioned, has a name of its own and has a worldwide recognition that we did not have for years”, although he warned that there is “excess caution when confirming business” on the part of importers .
