Fifa published the latest ranking on Thursday (22/12). Argentina and Indonesia both moved up one place later World Cup 2022.
The world rankings update was announced by FIFA via the website official. Several countries experienced ups and downs in rankings after the 2022 World Cup.
As champions of the 2022 World Cup, Argentina achieved a total of 64.5 points in the FIFA rankings. This pushed La Albiceleste up to second place compared to third place.
Lionel Messi has not yet managed to displace Brazil, who are still firmly in the top position with a total of 1840.77 points. Samba’s team is still in first place despite losing 0.53 points.
The increase in ranking was also experienced by the Indonesian national team. Currently, the Garuda Squad has risen to 151st place from the previous 152nd place.
Shin Tae Yong’s team did not change points between October 6 and December 22. However, this still caused Indonesia’s position to displace Andorra from its position.
The Indonesian national team is currently focusing on wading through the 2022 AFF Cup. Even though the tournament between Southeast Asian countries is not integrated with the FIFA calendar, the results of the 2022 AFF Cup will be included in the calculation of the world rankings.
Indonesia national team will kick off AFF Cup 2022 against Cambodia in Group A preliminary round at Bung Karno Stadium on Friday (23/12). Next, Indonesia will play Brunei on Monday (26/12), then Thailand on Thursday (29/12) and the Philippines on Monday (2/1).
The 2022 AFF Cup title will be the goal of the Indonesian national team. Because since it was first held in 1996, Indonesia has never won a championship.
