Argentina agrees to try a Chinese vaccine for Corona

The China National Biotechnology Group said Argentina has agreed to participate in the third phase of clinical trials of an anti-corona virus vaccine developed by the group.

As China progresses in the global race to develop a vaccine to curb the “Covid-19” pandemic and the number of cases dwindles within China, the China National Biotechnology Group needs research participants from other countries for testing, according to Reuters.

Phase III trials, which typically involve several thousand participants, allow researchers to collect data on potential vaccines’ efficacy to obtain final regulatory approvals.

The group said in a statement released on Friday that it will participate in the trial of the vaccine with Argentine ELLEA.

The experimental vaccine developed by the group, a unit of the China National Pharmaceutical Group, “Sinopharma”, received approval from the UAE in June to conduct phase III trials, and 15,000 people have volunteered to participate so far.

On Thursday, the group said that Peru and Morocco had also approved the experiments, and received approval from Bahrain for a study under the third phase involving about 6000 participants.
