Rio Hondo Hot Springs –
Already completed MotoGP Argentina 2022. Aleix Espargaro able to drive Apriliahim to the finish line faster than the other racers.
In the race which was held at the Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo, Monday (4/4/2022) early in the morning, Aleix, who won the pole position, was overtaken. Jorge Martin immediately step on the gas.
Martin then led the race from the first corner, followed by Aleix and his younger brother Pol Espargaro who preceded Luca Marini. The surprise happened when Fabio Quartararo lost power on his Yamaha bike.
Starting from the sixth position, Quartararo was in 13th position at the end of the first lap. Martin is still leading, followed by Aleix and Pol. Meanwhile, the Suzuki duo Alex Rins and Joan Mir also shot at the start of the race.
Martin was always in pole position throughout the race followed by Aleix who tried to overtake him. Pol who was overtaken by Rins in his attempt to reach the podium position instead fell on lap 15.
Fierce competition continues to occur between Martin and Aleix which is slowly closing the distance. Aleix even had time to overtake Martin twice but was quickly raced again by Martin, because it was too late to close his rival’s movement.
Aleix’s attempt to take over the race was finally accomplished in the 21st minute when he beat Martin around the corner. Two laps later Aleix was wide and almost overtaken by Martin, before securing his position.
Quartararo on lap 23 was already in eighth position to get as many points as possible in this race. Aleix was finally able to maintain the pole position until the end of the race and achieved his first victory in MotoGP.
Jorge Martin and Alex Rins were the last two riders on the podium. Completing the top five positions are Joan Mir and Francesco Bagnaia. Bagnaia performed great after only starting from 14th position and overtaking his opponents to finish fifth.
In sequence from sixth to tenth are Brad Binder, Maverick Vinales, Quartararo, Max Baz, and Enea Bastianini. This victory makes Aleix Espargaro topped MotoGP standings with 45 points from three draws.
