Argenta, the Medicine department becomes a “bubble”

ARGENTA. Infiltrated by the virus as last spring, the Argenta hospital, on the Covid free card, returns to deal with the pandemic. After the 19 positive cases recorded in the Medicine department among patients and staff, 10 the first (transferred between the hospitals of Cento and Delta) and 9 the second (placed in home isolation).

«In the ward – explains Roberto Bentivegna, director of the South-East health district – new accesses have been blocked and visits to patients’ families suspended. As foreseen by the protocol, there will be ten days of a real “bubble”, with the remaining negative patients that will be monitored: in seven days there will be another tampon for them ».

Factor analysis.

But if the patients at the time of admission were all negative, how is it possible that Covid has entered? «As much as we try to prevent the onset of new outbreaks – Bentivegna said – zero risk does not exist, in case it is a goal. We are analyzing the possible factors, considering that from the spring onwards the measures have become more stringent: there is a filter department, waiting for a swab, for those coming from other structures or from the emergency room, for example ».

Here then are the potential carriers of staff (“screening is every 15 days, each of them has a personal life outside the hospital. Any employee at the entrance without a mask? I won’t rule it out, we will enhance training and prevention”, says the health manager) but also that of patients’ relatives: “They are not tested, except in the case of” caregivers “who provide permanent assistance to their loved one, but this is not the case in the ward in question”. –
