The coming week for Ukraine will be very difficult and Russian troops could surround the city of Sloviansk in a week, said Oleksiy Arestovich, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, in an interview with Mark Feigin, a Russian human rights activist.
Arestovich said that Russian troops were moving in the direction of the Bahmut-Lysichansk road, and that its occupation would allow the occupiers to block the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Luhansk region.
“[Krievi] moving there. We fail to stop them. They go slow but go. And there is a significant probability that they will break [šo ceļu] (..) If the “boiler” is closed now, another Mariupol will be created, “said Arestovich.
He added that from Izjum to Popasna there is a concentrated half of the Russian forces in Ukraine – 35 to 40 thousand soldiers.
Arestovic also said that Slovyanska could be besieged in a week, but that the rival group Lima was likely to take over Sviatohirsk.
“The siege of Slovjanska is already approaching. But our forces north of the river Siverskijdonec will either be destroyed or retreat to the south bank,” Arestovich predicted.
The head of the Luhansk region’s military administration, Serhiy Hayday, had previously announced that Russian troops were not currently in control of the Lysichansk-Bahmut road, but was being fired upon.
