Behind the tactical successes of the Russian army in eastern Ukraine lies a grandiose strategic failure, says an adviser to the head of the President’s Office Alexey Arestovich. Live on Youtube channel Feygin Live Arestovich said that the Russian troops are advancing “two meters at the cost of two thousand Russian soldiers,” and this is presented by enemy propaganda as a great success.

In fact, Russian ambitions are now limited to the “30 by 30 kilometers” section near Severodonetsk and Lysychansk, Arestovich said.
To confirm his point of view, the adviser to the head of the OP showed a map of how the Kremlin’s plans to encircle Ukrainian forces were being reduced.
In March, it was planned to capture the entire southeastern part of Ukraine from Kharkov to the Dnieper with Zaporozhye. In April, the “pincers” narrowed down to the Izyum-Barvenkovo-Pervomaisk-Velika Novoselka direction, in May to the Izyum-Kramatorsk-Gorlovka direction, and by June, Arestovich predicts, Russia’s ambitions will be limited to the rest of the Luhansk region.
“And they won’t even succeed,” Arestovich said.
He advised not to calculate “with a centimeter in hand where Russia has advanced”, but to look at the picture more globally.
“A third of the Russian army was destroyed to take Popasnaya and Kherson and reach the borders of the Luhansk region. But they won’t go out either. They will not have enough strength and means, no matter how many unfortunate reservists are thrown there. This is a collapse,” Arestovich said.
