Hermelinda Carpio Rodríguez, founder of the restaurant chain Tradition Arequipeña, ceased to exist yesterday at 87 years because of pneumonia. Carpio helped to internationalize Arequipa’s food, as it received recognition more than 20 years ago in Spain for its outstanding gastronomic work.
The remains of Doña Hermelinda will be buried in the General Cemetery at 13:00 in the morning, previously there will be a tribute in the four local Arequipeña tradition, which will be visited by the coffin from 11:00 am.
