After concluding the scrutiny of the department of La Libertad, the Nueva Ideas party would be securing six of the seven seats in the Legislative Assembly, which would mean that the Nationalist Republican Alliance party (ARENA) would be securing a seat.
The position would be awarded to Francisco Lira and he would be snatching the curul from meteorologist Sandra Martinez.
The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) published the results this Friday night, detailing that the Nuevas Ideas party obtained 247,677.9 votes, ARENA 37,837.12 votes, FMLN 16,746.4, VAMOS 16,147.82 votes and Nuestro Tiempo 13,731.38.
The Nuevas Ideas deputies who have secured a seat are; Walter Alemán, Sharon Salazar, Ricardo Rivas, Salvador Chacón, Sandra Interiano and Norma Lobo.
ARENA claims the place for Francisco Lira who was in first place in preference and brands. However, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal still needs to officially announce the seventh place for the tricolor party.
Meanwhile, Francisco Lira stated that Nuevas Ideas says that they “have won six legislators and not seven.”
In total Francisco Lira obtained 37,837.21 brands and Sandra Martínez 35,382.56, which means there is a difference of 2,455 votes.
