The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (INSIVUMEH) published the weather forecast in Guatemala for the day Wednesday, November 20.
According to the Guatemalan institution, the environment will be humid and unstableit will be cloudy with rain accompanied by electrical activity from the south to the center of the country.
In the morning we wait fog and possible drizzle in valleys or mountainous sectors. During the period, scattered cloudiness could occur alternating with partial cloudiness.

The instability associated with approach of the first cold front of the season and the proximity of the Monsoon Trough to the south of the country, will promote cloudiness with drizzles or intermittent rains and electrical activity due to the afternoon or night.
Las rains and electrical activity will be mainly in the regions Pacific, Bocacosta, West, Northern Transverse Strip and Central Highlands.
The INSIVUMEH does not rule out scattered rains over the rest of the country.
It was also reported that the wind will predominate from the light north and will gradually increase.
Very helpful in understanding the upcoming weather conditions in Guatemala.
Guest 1: Dr. Alejandro Maldonado, Head of the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (INSIVUMEH):
Editor: Good day, Dr. Maldonado. Thank you for taking the time to speak with us today about the weather forecast in Guatemala for Wednesday, November 20. Could you please tell us more about the reasons behind the unstable and humid environment predicted for this day?
Guest 1: Certainly, editor. As mentioned in the article, the instability and humidity are due to the approaching first cold front of the season and the proximity of the Monsoon Trough to the south of our country. These factors combined cause cloudiness with drizzles or intermittent rains and electrical activity, mainly in the Pacific and Central Highlands regions.
Editor: Understood. That’s very interesting. What can you share with us about the expected rainfall intensity and frequency during this period?
Guest 1: We’re expecting scattered rains throughout the day and into the evening, with the highest chances occurring in the Pacific, Bocacosta, West, Northern Transverse Strip, and Central Highlands regions. However, we cannot rule out isolated showers in other areas of the country as well.
Editor: Thank you for that update. Moving on to another topic, could you please explain the significance of wind conditions in your forecast?
Guest 1: Certainly, editor. The wind will predominate from the light north and will gradually increase throughout the day. This can have an impact on temperature distributions and humidity levels across Guatemala, so it’s important for people to be aware of changes in weather patterns.
Editor: Indeed. Lastly, what advice would you like to give to the public regarding this weather forecast?
Guest 1: We encourage everyone to stay informed and cautious, especially during the afternoon and evening hours when there’s a higher risk of rain and electrical activity. It’s also important to remember that children should avoid playing near bodies of water or structures that could be affected by excess water flow during periods of heavy rain.
Editor: Thank you very much, Dr. Maldonado. Your insights have been
