The so-called antigen tests are to be used for it, ie a cheaper, faster, but less accurate variant compared to the currently used PCR methods. On Monday, Prymula said that more extensive testing would follow only after verifying that antigenic tests could detect a sufficient number of cases. “Once we are sure that the capture in that model is what we want it to be, we would go into a more general scheme, with the proviso that we will certainly not go into a model where we would protest the entire population,” he said.

The difference between antigenic tests and the PCR method should be verified in regions such as Karviná, Uherské Hradiště and in three social care facilities in the Central Bohemian Region and in Prague, the minister said.

“It will be discussed in detail with them so that we can make it happen,” he added. Uherské Hradiště is now one of the regions most affected by coronavirus. In the summer, employees of the mining company OKD were extensively tested in the Karviná region, where the infection spread.

It is not yet clear who will perform the testing. Prymula said on Monday that discussions were taking place with general practitioners, but also mentioned dentists and other categories of doctors. “We need to build it so that the project is viable and we do not have to change it in any way during the process,” the minister said.
