Accident
In an accident on the Kanaalweg on Wednesday afternoon, a fatality is to be regretted. According to the first reports, the victim ended up under a truck. The road to Industrial Estate was completely closed to all traffic for a while, but has since been reopened.

The circumstances of the accident are currently under investigation. But according to witnesses, a car first collided with the guardrail and then ended up in the verge. The driver got out and walked onto the road. A truck driver was unable to swerve and the pedestrian ended up under the vehicle. All help came too late for the young man. He died at the scene of the accident.
The Kanaalweg was completely closed for hours after the blow while the Beringen/Ham/Tessenderlo police came to make the determinations. Traffic was therefore completely blocked in the vicinity of the industrial estate. The road was reopened in the afternoon. mm/zb
