The new Super League 1 championship started yesterday and continues today with the games of the 1st matchday, but the project we will watch again this year will not change and we will see it again like every year in Greek football. In other words, we will again get tired of hearing or reading about voices against arbitration from everyone. Because she was and remains the easy target that washes away every sin.
Like every year, this year the voices and protests of the PAE started as soon as the new tables of referees and assistants were announced and long before the start of the championship. There are already teams that have expressed their displeasure either officially or through leaks about the first definitions in their games. Asteras Tripolis even threatened until yesterday at least that he might not come down to compete in tonight’s game against Panathinaikos at OAKA due to the appointment of Tassos Sidiropoulos because he has many complaints from his refereeing in the past. Grumblings and mutterings were also heard from the Olympiakos environment for the appointment of Papadopoulos in yesterday’s game with Volos and also from the AEK environment for the appointment of Zambalas in the game with OFI.

It is proven that every year depending on which PAEs command the EPO, and therefore also the KED, we also have changes of persons on the tables. “Inside those who are with us, outside those who are with the opposite”. Until last year, AEK and PAOK dominated the EPO and had a say in the tables. This year PAOK and Olympiacos got the upper hand and we had changes again. It is never meant by meritocratic criteria. “Who are you with, us or the others?” is the most basic criterion of all!
Therefore, the new tables had big surprises again this year, mainly due to the fact that two internationals were left out, Diamantopoulos (Arkadias) and Manouchos (Argolidas), while they were followed by Gamaris (Athens), Perrakis (Athens), Matsoukas (Athens) ), Andrianos (Achaia), Vatsios (West Attica), Maloutas (Imathia), Gortsilas (Macedonia).

Apart from the big division, “cooking” takes place in SL2 and also in the 3rd National League. Especially in the last one this year, the ball was lost, as they put Christos Haniotakis (Heraklion), who passed away in March 2024, on the panel of referee observers, while on the panel of referees they also put two referees who have stopped refereeing.
