Nuevo León.- In recent days, Facebook Messenger users have received a message that represents a serious danger for your account and your information: “Are you the one in this video?”.

The Secretariat of Public Security of Nuevo León alerted the citizenship on this new modality phishing, a mechanism that steals information of the accounts and, at the same time, it replicates the message to the other contacts, in order to continue obtaining personal data.

How does this type of phishing work?

The Facebook Messenger user receives the notification from one of his contacts. In this notice appears the legend “Are you the one in this video?”, Accompanied by a link where the supposed video appears.

When entering the league, a box appears asking for your username on Facebook, email and password; By providing this information, hackers will be able to enter your account and from there send the same message to your contacts.

What should I do if I get the message “You are the one in this video”?

Authorities ask that, in case of receiving this message, do not open the link that appears in it and, if possible, remove it from your list.
