Are you eligible for the $900 refund from the IRS? you’re still on time

As of today there are still around 1.5 million people in the United States who can claim a tax refund of up to $900.00 USD. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reminded who is eligible and how to proceed. The IRS clarified that people have not yet received their economic benefit because they have not filed their 2019 tax returns. The average refund is $893.00 USD, a not insignificant sum, especially for these times.

The deadline to claim the refund is the coming July 17. Of course, taxpayers will have to file their 2019 tax return first.

“Time is running out for those people who might have a refund pending,” said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel.

“The deadline ends on July 17 for taxpayers who did not file a 2019 tax return.

The IRS continues to encourage those who may have missed filing taxes during the pandemic to act quickly. Don’t miss your last chance to claim a substantial refund,” said the executive.

Three years: wait key number

The law provides that taxpayers have three years to file and claim their past tax refunds.

In case of not presenting the declaration within that period, the money passes into the hands of the Department of the Treasury from United States. The 2019 year-end report is an exception due to the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the world in that period.

Don’t forget, either, that low- and moderate-income working taxpayers may be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

During fiscal year 2019, said tax credit amounted to $6,557.00 USD. In this case, they also have until July 17 to claim it when filing the 2019 return.
