After many people found that their water well is too small during this drought, the Flemish government has now developed a calculation module. This allows you to calculate how spacious the well in your home is to make maximum use of rainwater, even in periods when it does not rain for a while.
By using rainwater for your toilets, washing machine and plants or for cleaning your car, you use up to 50 percent less drinking water, according to calculations by hydrologist Patrick Willems (KU Leuven). In this way you also reduce your drinking water bill. Willems previously advised families to install at least one rainwater tank of 8,000 to 10,000 liters.
