/ world today news/ Military expert Onufrienko: “The poisoning of Budanov’s wife looks like a bad joke”
For three days in a row, various sources in Ukraine and in the West have been quoting people at various levels about how, a year and a half ago, negotiations on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict broke down, and that now the chances of resuming talks between Moscow and Kiev are increasingly real.
On Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, we talk about it with military expert Mikhail Onufrienko.
NEGOTIATIONS OR CAPITULATION?
– Why did the mentions of negotiations – both past and possibly future – become more frequent?
– Because the West began to insist on them. Negotiations are probably possible. But only on our terms. When Russia’s top leadership hears talk of the possibility of negotiations, the essence of such statements boils down to what?
– And to what?
– To the point that negotiations are only possible if our conditions are met. Demilitarization and denazification of the entire, I emphasize, the entire territory of Ukraine. And the longer the fighting goes on, the more it becomes clear: at this stage there is no point in stopping.
It does not matter what part of Ukraine is controlled by the Kiev junta today and will be controlled tomorrow. Even with retaining control of the three western regions alone, this may be enough for them to establish a powerful military group there.
– That is, the USA fulfills its tasks – and does not particularly hide it?
– Of course. The main task is to inflict maximum damage on Russia. Military, economic and political. Dumb Ukrainian “aboriginals” are best suited for this. In Europe they openly say: we would never send our troops to such “meat assaults” in which Kiev threw its soldiers in the summer counter-offensive.
EXPERIENCED SCAMMERS
– And if we still risk it now and go to negotiations, will they try to cheat again?
– They will offer us another “Minsk” – after “Minsk” number one and two – Minsk three.
– But if we still assume that this winter some negotiation processes begin and even documents are prepared, then where are the guarantees that the supply of weapons and the pumping of a renewed Ukrainian army will not be repeated – against us?
– There is an example with Germany after the First World War – with strict restrictions on the German state not to create an army, aviation and navy. Then the restrictions are not respected for long. Now the agreement must be accompanied by military-political control over this territory.
– With the accession of which territories to the Russian Federation?
– We need de jure international registration of the territories that are already de facto part of Russia.
– But Kiev will resist this?!
– By all means and by all means. And it is possible that in parallel with the negotiations we will have to conduct military actions. If there is no military pressure from our side, then the delay will again be used against us to pump the Kiev regime with Western weapons and its money. The essence of the changes from March 2022 to November 2023 is clear: today a part of the original Russian territories has been returned, but tomorrow everything must be returned. You can’t trust scammers again, give in to their promises.
THE SUCCESS OF THE FLEXIBLE DEFENSE
– How do you assess the latest changes on the fronts?
– Our concept of flexible defense is bearing fruit. More and more enemy manpower and equipment are being cut down. The attempts to land troops on the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper show the increasing schizophrenia of the Kyiv regime.
– Why?
– The Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot transfer heavy weapons to the left bank. But people are sent there almost daily. And the decisions to conduct such operations are made in the headquarters of the Supreme Commander.
– So Zelensky?
– Yes, and the quarrel between him and the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a vivid example of the contradictions between political and military decision-makers. Kiev will still be able to pretend for a month and a half, a maximum of two months, that it is making “attacks” and “advancing”, when in fact it is a “meat assault”.
But the result will be nothing more than a brief media hype. And this will mean one thing: by the start of our offensive in the Ukrainian armed forces, a significant part of both personnel and armored vehicles will be destroyed in all sectors. And maybe the artillery too.
– Well, well, now we see that the enemy is exhausted – and what’s next?
– A number of military experts talk about the need for a strategic military operation.
„But, of course, we don’t know what the General Staff thinks about this matter.”
– Of course we don’t know and we should. But there are reports of the arrival of fresh, well-trained and well-armed and equipped units on the line of battle contact. Yes, decisive breakthroughs in strategic depth are needed to fully achieve our stated goals. But we must understand that the strategy of the barrage of fire allows the enemy to form defensive posts, fortified areas behind the ones we are hitting now. We know this, we are countering it.
THE POISON DOESN’T HUNT THEM?
– Against the background of other high-level statements, the message about the “poisoning of the wife of the chief intelligence officer of Ukraine Budanov” was clearly heard – is this staged or reality?
– This reminds me of a bad joke. Why didn’t they poison them with something more “reliable”? Why are arsenic or potassium cyanide found again, and in small doses? And what is this passion for heavy metals anyway? And why didn’t they do their job? And who needs this wife of Budanov?
The explanation may be the following: it is necessary to constantly distract people’s attention from the failures on the front – well, at least with such scandals. Our enemy is increasingly targeting the marginalized sections of the population. Those who remember literally for a day, today forget about what happened yesterday.
– But Budanov claims that they wanted to poison him – and his wife was accidentally injured, since she constantly lives with the chief intelligence officer in his office.
– Don’t you find it funny to hear such statements? Is the wife of the head of the intelligence department of a warring country’s army in his office permanently, 24/7? This, excuse me, is a commoner’s pie.
– Our head of the chemical defense forces, Igor Kirilov, reported that Ukraine actively used poisonous substances, 15 of our soldiers died from them…
– There are many people in Ukraine who are tied to the military budget. In Kiev, according to information from various sources, there are people who receive bribes and directly trade in weapons, humanitarian aid and special equipment delivered from abroad. In Kiev, those who have access to such a feeder understand that before an imminent catastrophe occurs, they must have time to “harvest” everything that falls into their country from the western sky.
As for the various substances… I know an officer of our chemical defense troops who himself suffered in Azovstal and in his group there were casualties from the chemicals there used by the Ukrainians. Yes, the Ukrainian units had toxic substances… And not all of them disappeared in Mariupol…
