The last decision was taken by the administrative court of Bordeaux on September 30. It confirms the judgment of November 22, 2018 of the administrative court. Mobile homes would represent visual pollution in the natural and protected site of the Dune.
But the operators of the campsites concerned do not intend to stop there. They filed other legal remedies. This is the case of Flots Bleus with its 70 mobile homes. Its director Franck Couderc does not intend to withdraw them immediately.
We have always done what we were told to do: move back mobile homes, clad them with wood, replant trees. We are exemplary in terms of cleanliness, we just want to be able to work!
– Franck Couderc, director of Flots Bleus
The standoff between the campsites and the Coastal Conservatory, manager of the Dune, has been going on for nearly 10 years. In 2012, a report submitted to the Ministry of the Environment denounced the proliferation of bungalows and their visual impact in the nature reserve. Since that date a multitude of appeals have been filed and all have not yet succeeded.
In 2020 the Gironde prefecture had set foot in the dish, calling on the campsites to comply with the rule but in view of the slowness of justice the State finally gave them a 3-year reprieve. In the meantime, some have started to clean. White plastic bungalows in particular have been replaced by wooden cladding constructions which blend in better with the environment.
