In the assisenhof in Leuven, 47-year-old Alinda Van der Cruysen is on trial this week for the gruesome double murder of two elderly family members, 29 years ago in Tienen. The Antwerp woman was 18 years old at the time. “A barbaric torture,” the law doctor describes the suffering of Jules Bogaerts (81) and Jeannette Jacobs (78). It was only four years ago that new DNA research could link Van der Cruysen to the facts. The court always assumed two perpetrators, but a second suspect was never found.
