Are Honda electric motorcycles considered expensive? Here’s what AHM said

Jakarta

Honda officially launched two new electric bikes, ICON e: and CUV e:. The presence of these two electric motorcycles complements the two previously launched Honda electric motorcycles, the EM1 e: and EM1 e: Plus. One thing that remains under consideration is that Honda electric motorcycles are still considered expensive. What does Astra Honda Motor (AHM) say?

For the record, the Honda ICON e: will be marketed at a price range of IDR 28-32 million (including charger). Meanwhile, the Honda CUV e: is sold at an estimated price of IDR 53-57 million (IDR 33-37 million unit + two batteries MPP e: IDR 10 million / battery unit).

Then the Honda CUV type e: RoadSync Duo will be marketed at a range of around IDR 57-61 million (IDR 37-41 million unit + two batteries MPP e: IDR 10 million / battery unit). Then check the prices of the two electric motorcycles sold by AHM before, EM1 e: sold for IDR 40,000,000 and EM1 e: Plus sold for IDR 40,500,000.

AHM Marketing Director Octavianus Dwi Putro explained that electric motorcycles are not seen by their price alone. But you also have to pay attention to the value offered. Octavianus said, Honda’s electric motorcycle line has the advantage of battery technology that is made as safe as possible.

“Yes, you can see the value, and we make sure that, especially the battery, safety is a concern (focus) at Honda. And right now we have achieved these standards, the tests are also done,” said Octa in Cikarang, Bekasi, recently.

AHM Executive Vice President Thomas Wijaya said that the development of Honda’s electric motorcycle batteries has been done globally and researched for ten years. Of course, from a safety point of view, the battery is more secure.

“The development is really world-class and if we look at it globally, battery development has been going on for 10 years,” Thomas explained.

“This is something positive for Indonesia, they have been building for 10 years and we are just about to build it. Of course it will take time, a process shift, and right now we are using the it was developed 10 years ago, it’s ready,” Thomas explained.
