“ARD’s ‘Tatort’ Outperforms ZDF’s ‘Das Traumschiff’ in Easter Episode Quota Duel”

This year’s Easter episode of “Das Traumschiff” is behind the ARD crime scene in terms of quota

On yesterday’s Easter Sunday, a new episode of the cult series “Das Traumschiff” was traditionally broadcast at 8:15 p.m. on ZDF. This time Captain Max Parger (Florian Silbereisen) steered the dream ship to Vancouver in Canada.

Every year there is also a duel for the best ratings, because ARD is broadcasting the crime show “Tatort” at the same time – this year the Berlin crime scene is even a two-part series, the final episode of which can only be seen today.

Yesterday 5.20 million viewers watched the program “Das Traumschiff – Vancouver” (according to ZDF information) and thus a market share of 19.4%. In the previous year 2022, 5.57 million viewers watched the program (Easter 2021: 6.25 million). Yesterday’s “Tatort Nothing but the Truth (1)” gathered 6.22 million people in front of the TV sets – this corresponds to a market share of 23.3%. So yesterday the ARD thriller won against the ZDF cruise show.

At Easter 2022 it was exactly the opposite, because there the “dream ship” went out of the duel with the quota victory. At that time, the show “Das Traumschiff” literally had “a simple game” when the “crime scene” on Easter Sunday 2022 is a repeat.

Yesterday’s first broadcast of “Das Traumschiff – Vancouver” was the lowest ratings since Captain Max Parger alias Florian Silbereisen played a leading role in the show.

The significantly lower ratings this year are likely to have something to do with the growing criticism from viewers of the plot and the cast of the roles. If you do a little digging around on social media, opinion is once again divided over yesterday’s broadcast of Das Traumschiff, but this is also partly due to some misinterpreting the show as a documentary when it really isn’t is, but a fictional story is played by actors according to the script, which serves to entertain the viewers. The fact that the scenes shown have very little to do with a real cruise should also be obvious to every viewer.

Furthermore, there is increasing criticism that the filming is increasingly taking place on ships other than the original ship MS Amadea, so the ship recordings of yesterday’s issue were shot on the MS Artania by Phoenix Reisen – this is immediately noticeable to ship connoisseurs. However, the production company uses the MS Amadea for outdoor shots of the ship, since this is the “dream ship” from the outside.

Ultimately, like any other TV show, it’s a matter of taste.

Yesterday’s edition of “Das Traumschiff – Vancouver” can still be viewed in the ZDF media library:
