The “ARD buffet” had to be canceled early on Wednesday. The reason for this was a fire alarm. That sounded around a quarter of an hour before the actually planned end of the show, when presenter Johannes Zenglein was standing at the studio oven with chef Stephan Hentschel and “Brisant” presenter Marwa Eldessouky.
“Did we cook something too hot here?” Zenglein asked first. “But I don’t have the feeling that we are responsible for it here.” But his hope of being able to continue the program was not fulfilled. Only a short time later he received instructions to vacate the studio. “I feel like I have to say this, but actually we have to leave the studio,” the host said and then ended the broadcast.
Instead of the live broadcast, old excerpts from the “ARD buffet” were finally broadcast, but due to the short notice, this meant that the last report could not be seen in full, as the “Tagesschau” took over at 12:00 p.m. on time.
As of this week, the “ARD-Buffet” only broadcasts in the new time slot at 11:15 a.m. The magazine appears one hour earlier after ARD and ZDF decided at the beginning of the new year to extend the joint “Mittagsmagazin” by one hour. However, the new slot will not last too long, because as part of the “Mima” decision it has already been decided that the “ARD buffet” will only remain in the program until the end of 2024.
