Arctic threatened by rains and extinction of animals – scientists

Rains ahead of the Arctic

The water will turn to ice, and the animals will have no opportunity for food. They will die.

An international team of researchers led by the University of Manitoba has found that more rain will fall in the Arctic than snow. This will lead to the extinction of animals. Relevant research published in the journal Nature Communications.

Rain will replace snow in the Arctic due to global warming. As a result, sea ice will also rapidly melt.

Scientists believe that the accelerated rate of global warming is due to human activities, in particular, the burning of fossil fuels, which over the past 200 years has caused the world to warm up by about 1.1 °.

Moreover, the Arctic is warming up more than twice as fast as the world average.

Satellite data indicate that sea ice in the Arctic has been shrinking since 1979, with average sea ice extent at its lowest since 1850.

In their new study, scientists say the changes will have “huge impacts” – reduced snow cover, increased permafrost thawing and “increased flooding due to increased river runoff.”

Rains can wipe out populations of wild caribou, reindeer and musk oxen. This is due to the fact that the water will turn into ice, and the animals will not have the opportunity to feed.

Recall earlier rain fell for the first time in 70 years in Greenland… Seven tons of water were recorded.
