Arctic Blast Hits Maine-et-Loire: Weekend Forecast and What to Expect Next Week

From Saturday, the weather will gradually become sunny over Maine-et-Loire. The downside is that temperatures will plunge, at least for five days.

With the exception of a few brief periods of coolness between mid-November and the first decade of December, autumn was rather mild in Anjou. And the start of winter is to match, with temperatures 5 to 10 degrees higher than seasonal norms. This oceanic atmosphere, marked by excess rain since August 1, will be gradually swept away by an anticyclonic system which will bring back Scandinavian air, much colder and drier.

Cold from this weekend in Angers

From Saturday, the sky will clear up and the sun will shine abundantly throughout the next week. The downside is that it will also freeze in the morning and, in the afternoon, the thermometer will rarely exceed 5°C. That’s a good ten units less compared to what the Angevins, and all French territories, have been feeling for a month.

These icy conditions will set in on Saturday. But it is especially on Sunday that morning temperatures will plunge: between -2 and 5 degrees. They will have difficulty climbing during the day, despite good light (between 2 and 4 degrees). Locally, in Angers, Météo France announces a very cold Monday (less than 3 degrees from morning until evening). The sun on Tuesday is expected to rise under negative temperatures (-2°C). The frosts will obviously be more severe in the countryside.

A slight warm spell should appear from next Friday but, at this stage, there is a lack of data to set a deadline for this first winter offensive.

“Beyond the next seven days, the confidence index is limited for the moment to 2/5, several meteorologists agree.

Of course, in this cold and dry atmosphere, no snow episodes are expected in the plains.
