Archie turns 5: this is how his grandfather Carlo and his parents, Harry and Meghan, celebrate him

Prince Archie turns 5 on May 6; a historic date for another reason, since it marks the official beginning of the reign of his grandfather, Charles III, who was crowned king in London on May 6th a year ago.
We didn’t see Archie then, and chances are we won’t see him on his fifth birthday either. Because since he was born, dad Harry and mom Meghan have measured out every public appearance with a drop of caution, and since they left the royal family and the duties associated with it (in January 2020 Archie was 8 months old) the release of images depicting him has been reduced to a minimum. After having filed several lawsuits against the paparazzi, even guilty of flying drones over their villa in Canada, and then in Montecito, to steal images of the child, the Dukes of Sussex have continued to strictly protect his and his little sister’s privacy, Lilibet Diana Harry and Meghan want to manage their children’s image in their own way, without being forced to release portraits on special occasions (like William and Kate instead) and without someone stealing photos to use for profit, or to sell to the media. In the past they chose to have them posted on the social accounts of charities to ‘give’ them visibility, and they gave a lot of it to Netflix, for the benefit of the series they produced, Harry & Meghan.

How Archie celebrates his birthday: the participation of grandfather Carlo and the gift from Harry and Meghan

Archie celebrates with a party with friends and a torta colourful. It is certain that Meghan prepares it; one wonders if he will stuff it with her famous jam (the first product of her brand) and if he will do it in the spotlight, and then post the video in support of American Orchid Riviera.
According to what a source close to the Sussexes told People, Archie’s “will be a quiet party at home. They will have friends around them and Meghan’s mother, Doria [Ragland]”. It also seems that Meghan uses “olive oil and lemon” for her cakes, and that together with Harry she took a beautiful gift for her child: a bicycle, hand-delivered to their Montecito home by Mad Dogs & Englishmen Bike Shop. Maybe with a sidecar to take your dog with you for a walk, since the shop specializes in precisely this type of product.

Archie’s first birthday was portrayed in Harry & Meghan of Netflix, where the little one was seen sitting in his high chair wearing a party hat and in front of him a cake covered in fruit, connected on a video call with someone… it was never confirmed whether or not it was his grandfather, the then Prince Charles. According to what the Mirror’s royal expert, Tom Quinn, says, this year too the king could use Zoom to wish Archie a happy birthday: “King Charles doesn’t like new technology, but he’s desperate to stay in touch with his grandchildren across the Atlantic, so he’ll definitely call Harry and wish Archie a happy birthday.” Also: “Charles has asked about video calls, but his aides say he’s uncomfortable with the idea; a normal phone call to Harry would mean exchanging little more than a word with Archie, but then he wouldn’t need to speak to Meghan, prospect that would fill him with terror.”

Archie and Lilibet, American princes

Archie and his sister, Princess Lilibet, spent very little time in the UK. Although Archie was born in London (at 5.26am on 6 May 2019 at Portland Hospital), he moved to America with his parents when he was less than a year old. Archie and Lilibet have only returned to the UK once: for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. Harry will soon be in London for the tenth anniversary of his Invictus Games (8 May), but according to some sources he has no intention of bringing his wife Meghan and children with him. A choice that could also be forced, since the prince and his family are not entitled to an escort; Harry lost his case against the Home Office last April (and was forced to pay £1 million in legal costs), and was also denied the ability to pay the police at his own expense, in order to rely on their protection.
Harry accuses the British Home Office of jeopardizing his security in the United Kingdom, but the decision to withdraw his escort came when he had been downgraded to “no longer serving member of the Royal Family” by the Home Office and was was validated by her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
Harry had tried to convince the judge to reopen the case before the Court of Appeal in London in a written statement from his lawyers: “The United Kingdom is my home and is crucial as part of my children’s legacy; but it is not possible (attend) if their safety is not guaranteed. I cannot even put my wife in danger and, given my life experiences, I am also reluctant to put myself at risk unnecessarily.”
