Archdiocese of Hamburg – Service to open World Mission Month in Hamburg

Strengthening women, stopping global warming: From October 4th to 6th, four women and a cardinal from the Church from Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands will visit the Archdiocese of Hamburg to talk about these issues. Together with the Catholic relief organization missio Aachen, they are opening World Mission Month for Germany. This is the largest Catholic global solidarity campaign, which ends on October 27th in 120 countries with a collection for the Church’s pastoral care and social work in the poorest regions of the world. The guests complete an extensive meeting program in the Archdiocese of Hamburg. This also includes a soirée with missio ambassador Patricia Kelly on October 5th in the Kulturkirche Altona.

Guests in the Archdiocese of Hamburg are:

  • Sister Daisy Anne Lisania Augustine. She is the media director of the Episcopal Conference of Papua New Guinea and an example of how women aspire to leadership positions.
  • The nun Veronika Cibaric. Together with four other sisters on the Solomon Islands, she looks after parishes, a health station and training centers in remote regions, especially for girls and young women.
  • Helen Oa. The committed laywoman has built a movement for young people in poor areas in the capital of Papua New Guinea, Port Moresby. This protects them from crime and drugs. For example with prayer walks.

All interested parties are cordially invited to Pontifical mass for the ceremonial opening of the World Mission Month on Sunday, October 6th, 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Maria in Hamburg-HarburgParish of St. Maximilian Kolbe (Museumsplatz 4).

Archbishop Stefen Heße, John Cardinal Ribat MSC, Archbishop of Port Moresby, Pastor Dirk Bingener, Missio President, Pastor Henric Kahl, Parish of St. Maximilian Kolbe and Missio guests from Papua New Guinea will take part in the pontifical mass for the ceremonial opening of the World Mission Month.
