In the Mexican city of Tepeahualco, a cone-shaped tomb was discovered that dates back to 300 BC.

The tomb was discovered by chance by the inhabitants of Tepeahualco, who were collecting basalt rock for construction. They thought that the remains might belong to victims of crime and called the police. After excavations, archaeologists confirmed that this is an ancient burial place, and not a crime scene.
The burial has the shape of a truncated cone, its walls are made of local stone. On the inside, it has been processed and polished, while the outside is left in the natural basalt form.
The pottery fragments recovered from the tomb are of the Tesontepec Rojo and Pajuc Rojo types, which date the burials to the late Cantona I phase (300 BC – 50 AD).
Unfortunately, as construction materials were mined in the area for decades, the tomb was damaged. It revealed the scattered remains of four young people.
As Apostrophe reported, previously a group of archaeologists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History of Mexico (INAH) announced the opening of a bas-relief depicting an eagle (aquila chrysaetos canadensis). This bird was a symbol of war.
