Arch Manning is considered one of the greatest quarterback talents of the coming years. In the next season, the 17-year-old starts his college career with the Texas Longhorns and is fighting for the starting position there.

Steve Sarkisian is full of praise for his new protégé: “He’s a great kid. It’s fun to be with him. He loves soccer. But he’s still a freshman,” said the 49-year-old Texas Longhorns head coach. Texas fans and press alike can’t wait to see Arch Manning, the latest addition to the Manning football dynasty, on the field. But Sarkisian curbs expectations, after all, the Longhorns already have a highly talented quarterback in their ranks in Quinn Ewers. The redshirt sophomore would have been the Longhorns’ first distributor since Vince Young in 2002, coming to Texas with a perfect 1000 rating from 247Sports had he not taken a year-long detour via the Ohio State Buckeyes.
But much greater is the excitement about Arch Manning. Will he be able to carry the high expectations that his name and high school years bring to college? Will he be able to oust Ewers right off the bat, giving his career another boost after he fled CJ Stroud with the Buckeyes? “They’re at different stages of their careers,” says Sarkisian, looking forward to his quarterback room next season. The head coach is no stranger to having great quarterback talent on the roster at the same time. During his time on the coaching staff of the He once coached Carson Palmer, Matt Cassel and Matt Leinart at the USC Trojans, and Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts and Mac Jones as offensive coordinator for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2017 and 2018. All three are current NFL starters.

That’s where Manning wants to go too. Archibald, as his full first name is, is the son of Cooper Manning, grandson of Archie Manning and nephew of former NFL champions Peyton Manning and Eli Manning. Like father Cooper and his uncles Peyton and Eli, Arch Manning attended Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans. Already in his first year for the Isidore football team, Arch Manning attracted attention with top performances, so that the first colleges contacted him early on. Unlike his famous kin, who played for the University of Tennessee and the University of Mississippi, Arch chose the University of Texas and is now a freshman contender for the starting spot.
