Arcelor very strong at higher AEX | Financial

Around 10.45 the AEX index was 0.7% higher at 617.8 points. The stock market indicator measured this morning at 619.03 points the highest position of this year and also the highest point since 2001. Investors reacted cheerfully to the announcement that China is going to halve the import rates next week at $ 75 billion worth of US goods. They also monitored the developments around the corona virus. On Wednesday, media reports about a medicine and vaccine against the virus brought relief to the stock markets. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that there are no effective treatments against the infectious disease yet.

In the AEX rose ArcelorMittal this morning with 9%. Although the steel manufacturer booked less revenue last year, the operating result was halved due to lower steel prices and weaker demand. But this year the world’s largest steel producer is more optimistic about the demand for steel in its most important markets.

ING initially lost 1%, but then posted a plus of 1.7%. The bank saw a sharp decline in the profit in the last quarter. ING incurred many additional costs in connection with its efforts to combat money laundering. The financial service provider was able to resist the unfavorable interest climate.

With the financial values ABN Amro (+ 2.4%) and Aegon (+ 2%) fine with it. Aegon confirmed the sale of San Francisco’s famous skyscraper Transamerica Pyramid to American real estate developer Shvo. This gives the insurer $ 711 million.

At the medium-sized funds lost Intertrust 2, 7%. The trust office closed the fourth quarter with a higher turnover. The fund management branch in particular contributed to the higher returns. However, a disappointment was that Intertrust expects a lower underlying profit margin in the current half-year. The profit margin should improve again in the second half of the year.

The winners in the AMX were led by Aperam (+ 4.2%). The stainless steel manufacturer was also worth 9% more on Wednesday thanks to better than expected quarterly figures. Fertilizer maker OCI added 3.2%.

PostNL (+ 1.3%) sells subsidiary Spotta to Arcis, a consortium of three parties from the printing world. Financial details were not disclosed. Spotta is a deliverer of brochure packages.

The locally noted Marel (+ 0.7%) came after market with figures on Wednesday. The Icelandic manufacturer of meat and fish processing machines, listed in Amsterdam, made less profit last year. The company suffered from the many geopolitical tensions and trade barriers in the past year.

Biotech company Curetis (+ 4.4%) concluded an agreement for the sale of its Unyvero diagnostic device in Vietnam. The supplier of medical instruments Quaphaco gets the exclusive sales rights to the device in the Southeast Asian country. The distributor has also agreed to purchase a minimum number of Unyvero devices. Over the three-year term of the agreement, that minimum accounts for € 1.9 million in revenues from Curetis.
