Arce announces vaccination for adolescents between 16 and 17 years old

Vaccination against the coronavirus was expanded again, this time for people between the ages of 16 and 17 with the doses of Pfizer that will arrive in Bolivia in the coming days, President Luis Arce announced on Tuesday.

“On October 19, more than one million #Pfizer vaccines from the #COVAX mechanism will arrive in #Bolivia, with which we will have a total of 1,188,720 doses to start vaccination of minors between 16 and 17 years old (sic)” the president wrote on Twitter.

The decision to expand the range of people benefited came after weeks ago the Ministry of Health and Sports decided to await studies that could determine to immunize minors under 18 years of age.

Different institutions and municipalities suggested that vaccination could be expanded to stop the spread of the virus.

This Monday, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported that the vaccination reached 6,870,352 people between the first, second and single doses of the Sputnik V, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer and Janssen vaccines throughout the country.

In July, the president had announced that the vaccination would be for people over 18 years of age.
