Arauz will not attend the El Comercio presidential debate

He candidate presidential of correísmo, Andres Arauz He has reported that he will not participate in the debate organized by the newspaper El Comercio and the Televicentro channel, organized for January 9.

Arauz has announced, through a spokesperson, that he has decided to attend a single debate, the one organized by the National Electoral Council, which he considers mandatory.

“Our only participation will be under the public and legal norm,” said Joseph Díaz, who signs as a common attorney-in-fact for the alliance.

Also the presidential candidate of Pachakutik, Yaku perez, accept the debate, because of the way it is organized.

Due to the number of candidates (16), El Comercio divided the event into two batches to be held on different days: a first group (which includes Guillermo Lasso and Andrés Arauz) participate on Saturday, January 9, while the second (which includes to Yaku Pérez) will do it on Saturday 10.

According the surveys, Lasso, Arauz and Pérez are the only candidates who exceed the 10% intention to vote. The other thirteen candidates reach 1% voting intention, in the best of cases.
