The birth of a music festival is always a happy event. Much more in the current context of pandemic, in which programming has been reduced to a minimum. This weekend, the first edition of the Agustina de Aragón Festival, which will take place at the Estación del Norte de Zaragoza civic center with an entirely female poster.
Isabel Marco and As Bruixas! on Saturday, and Santoral and Almendra Garrapiñá on Sunday, make up this proposal organized by Aragón Musical. An endorsement and recognition of the increasingly important presence of women in the Community’s music scene.
“We wanted to commemorate a year since that first harsh home confinement. At the same time, we had had this event of women fighters in mind for some time. And their role in this crisis has been essential. We wanted to turn this phenomenon into a rise of girls in front of buses. , guitars, keys and drums at festival. We want to value the talent of women also in the field of music “, explains Sergio Falces, one of the people in charge of Aragón Musical.
For this inaugural edition, the philosophy that feeds the poster is clear and direct: to show the variety of styles that coexist in Aragonese lands. “We have tried to focus on musical projects in which women have a special role. But, as in real life, without necessarily doing without the man. We have looked for a poster where it is clear that stylistically there is a lot of richness and variety in groups with women. The woman does not make a recognizable type of music, she gets into very different scrubs, how could it be otherwise. We have also wanted to focus on young proposals because it is this new generation of women that is definitely changing the musical panorama thanks to the fruits gathered from the struggle of the previous ones, “Falces continues.
A varied poster
The Alcorisana Isabel Marco has released an album entitled ‘Nada sera equal’, which focuses on the feeling of being a mother for the first time. And he does it using the tools of rock’n’roll. In addition, it is the Aragonese music that has played the most in different parts of Spain during the pandemic. They will complete As Bruixas! On Saturday. Despite their youth, they do not know the complexes when mixing rock and vindication with different roots and combining their own very personal themes with versions of very different sounds.
On Sunday it will begin with Santoral, a duo that became known in the Ambar Z Music contest. Being only two and with unconventional music, they reached the final. They signed in 2019 ‘Sin sin espinas’, confirming what was stated in the contest. Now they are immersed in ‘El fantasma de la libertad’, the new album of which they will premiere some songs in their recital. Finally, Almendra Garrapiñá fuses rumba and bulerías and transmits a contagious joy.
A sum of factors that will combine music and vindication. “In times of crisis like the current one, vindication can be combined with funBecause one thing does not have to be separated from the other, it is absolutely necessary. All with strict measures to contain the spread of the virus “, concludes Falces.
